HERSHEY — Bison heavyweight Sean Owen will meet Michael Gesford (Hershey, So., 23-5) in the fifth place medal bout tonight at Hershey’s Giant Center.
Owen (So., 34-9) defeated Eric Kush (Chartiers Valley, Jr., 34-10) 10-4 to earn a spot in the consolation semi-finals with Justin Haines (Connellsville, Jr., 35-6).
Haines fell to the consolation bracket after Marcus Zimmerman (Manheim Central, Sr., 34-3) won by fall in 1:44.
Owen and Haines went scoreless in the first, but Haines escaped halfway through the second.
Haines held on for a 1-0 win.
DuBois, seniors Nick Wykoff (37-5) and Zach Lundgren (36-8) will wrestle for seventh place at 112 and 160 pounds, respectively.
Wykoff dropped an 11-4 decision to Lewistown’s Matt Snyder ((Jr., 42-3) in the consolation quarter-finals, while Lundgren suffered a tough 3-1 overtime loss to Ryan Dill (Red Land, Sr., 28-5).
Wykoff will meet Pat May (Downingtown, Jr., 43-4) in his seventh place championship bout, while Lundgren will square off with Thad Frick (Nazareth, Sr., 46-3).
The Class AAA third, fifth and seventh place consolation finals are set for 6 p.m., with the championship finals to follow at 8 p.m.
