DUBOIS – DuBois City has been paid for arrearages owed by Sandy Township.
Dick Castonguay, Sandy Township manager, said he and Chairman Brady LaBorde delivered a check for $1,748,818.25 to DuBois City on Friday, money a court decision ruled was owed to the city for the time period when the township paid less than $6.92 per 1,000 gallons of wastewater that was treated by the city.
The figure includes interest.
“It was paid under protest at the advice of our solicitor,” Castonguay said.
A Clearfield County Court decision ruled that Sandy Township owed the money to DuBois City, but the township has appealed to the Commonwealth Court. A decision has not been released on the appeal.
