COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — After missing the first half of the season because of an arm injury, freshman Cassie Mulhollem of Clearfield made an auspicious debut for the Franklin & Marshall College women\’s swimming team Friday by winning the 50-yard freestyle race in the Diplomats\’ 135-65 victory over Ursinus.
Mulhollem touched the wall in 26.35 seconds in her lone individual event and also swam the anchor leg for the Franklin & Marshall \”B\’ 200 medley relay foursome that finished second.
The Diplomats are 4-2 in the conference and 6-2-1 overall. Ursinus is 4-5, 1-4.

CLARION — Two Clearfield Area High School graduates, seniors Stacy Ogden and Kaymee Kelly, were pointgetters for the Clarion University women\’s swimming team that closed out its home dual meet season with a weekend split, beating Allegheny 142-96 Friday and losing to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Edinboro 114-86 Saturday.
Against Allegheny, Ogden finished third in the 200-yard freestyle while Kelly was fifth in the 100 free and also led off for the Golden Eagles\’ second-place \’C\’ 400 medley relay foursome.
Against Edinboro, Ogden led off with a :30.12 split for the victorious 200 medley relay quartet and was second in the 100 backstroke, while Kelly placed fourth in the 100 back.
Clarion is 7-3.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — In a duel between undefeated Top 20 men\’s swimming teams Saturday, freshman John Lytle of Clearfield placed in four races for No. 16 Notre Dame, but No. 8 Northwestern won 13 of the 16 events to hand the Fighting Irish their first loss 167-131.
Lytle finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and third in the 50 free and picked up two seconds on relay quartets. He anchored the 400 medley team and led off for the 400 freestyle foursome.

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Clearfield Area High School graduates Nathan Taylor and Ryan Sayers recorded third-place finishes as the Washington & Jefferson men\’s swimming team climbed back over .500 with a 110-82 win oveer Oberlin (Ohio) Friday.
Taylor, a freshman, placed in the 200-yard butterfly, while Sayers, a sophomore from Frencvhille, placed in three-meter diving. Both patricipated in other events as exhibition entries because the Presidents already had clinched their sixth victory.
