DUBOIS – Fire personnel from various companies were called out after 9 a.m. for a fire at the Quality Inn on state Route 255, near Interstate 80.
According to Jim Mauthe, Oklahoma Civil Defense Station 37 chief, the fire began in a bathroom at the hotel. He said smoke was rolling from the ceiling when responders arrived.
“The building is going to be closed for a while due to extensive smoke damage,” said Mauthe.
Mauthe reported no injuries at the scene. He said that everyone in the hotel had been evacuated.
According to Mauthe, all of Sandy Township’s fire departments were on-scene, and trucks from Falls Creek, Brady Township, DuBois City, Rockton, and Brockway were also at the hotel. Various other trucks were on stand-by. Other sources also indicated responders from Clearfield, Curwensville, Penfield and Luthersburg. Also on-scene were the DuBois chapter of the American Red Cross.
Around noon, fire personnel were in the process of overhauling the site.
Mauthe said he suspected no foul play.
