CLEARFIELD – Citing health reasons, long-time Clearfield Borough Council Member Phil Biancuzzo, Fourth Ward, submitted a letter of resignation at Thursday’s meeting.
Biancuzzo has been on the council for more than 15 years, most recently serving as council vice president.
Only one council member opposed Biancuzzo’s resignation, fellow Fourth Ward Representative Barry Reddinger. He said, “I’m sorry to see him go, and I wish that he would’ve held on and fulfilled his term.”
Council is now accepting letters of interest to fill the unexpired term, which runs through December. If the appointee so chooses, he or she will run to retain the office in the May primary.
Applications will be accepted through Feb. 1. Interviews are planned for Feb. 5.
Clearfield Borough Council meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Committee meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
