CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners held one final public hearing for the county-wide comprehensive plan before Tuesday’s vote to finalize it.
The project was originally contracted out to a consultant to complete. But issues arose with the consultant, and Jodie Brennan, director of the Clearfield County Planning Department, and her staff took on the task of putting the plan together.
After forming a steering committee and holding a number of stakeholder meetings and public meetings, sending out random surveys as well as municipality surveys, the plan came together.
While no public was present, all of the commissioners had positive things to say about the plan, which was in the works for about a 18 months.
“It’s a complete plan,” said Mark McCracken, Clearfield County Commissioner chairman. “I personally want to thank Jodi (Brennan) and her staff for all the effort they put into this.”
Clearfield County Commissioner Mike Lytle thanked Brennan and her staff, former planning specialists John Kaskan and Meredith Krejny.
Rex Read, county commissioner, noted how close many of the same subjects came up in many of the municipalities.
“It’s a good plan,” said Read. “Now the key is to implement it.”
