PUNXSUTAWNEY – Captain David W. Neal, commanding officer, Troop C, Pennsylvania State Police, Punxsutawney, is asking drivers to be extra cautious while traveling throughout Pennsylvania over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
“The holiday season is eagerly awaited and anticipated by young and old alike,” said Neal. “Don’t let a moment of carelessness turn this season into a tragic memorey of an automobile crash. Let the spirit of Christmas, no spirits, govern your driving.”
Troopers will be aggressively patrolling the roadways, placing special emphasis on driving under the influence, along with controlling the speed of traffic to help make the highways safer over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
“We remind motorists that we have already experienced adverse driving conditions this winter, and we need to be prepared to deal with hazardous winter driving at any time,” said Neal.
“Make sure your car is prepared for winter by having good tires, good windshield wipers and good anti-freeze,” added Neal. “It is also a great idea to carry a vehicle emergency kit that contains items such as warning devices (flares), anti-skid, a blanket and a shovel.
