AMESVILLE – High winds Friday caused problems across the county, from power outages to store closings. Those same high winds caused a close call for a Smithmill resident, according to Clearfield-based state police.
Angela Shimmel was traveling north on state Route 53 near the Moshannon Valley High School when a tree fell on her vehicle. After the tree struck her vehicle, Shimmel drove down the road a little further before pulling off of the roadway.
Neither Shimmel nor her passenger were reported to have suffered any injuries. Her vehicle was not so lucky however. Police report that the tree caused severe damage to the vehicle’s roof, trunk, and also smashed the rear and front windshields.
