CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Police conducted an investigation into the death of a 45-year-old man.
On Tuesday, police were requested to check the welfare of a person who was residing in an apartment on South Fifth Street. Police and emergency medical services located the man in his apartment and assessed that he had been deceased for several days. Police were assisted by the Clearfield Borough Fire Department.
On Thursday, an autopsy was conducted to determine the mans identity and cause of death. A positive identification was made, but a name will not be released until notification is made to his family. The forensic pathologist determined that his cause of death was due to asphyxiation from his airway being blocked by food.
