Clearfield Babe Ruth All Stars lose to QuadCo

STATE COLLEGE — The Clearfield Babe Ruth League 14-Year-Old All-Stars lost 7-1 to QuadCo in their District 8 Tournament debut Thursday night and were scheduled to return Friday for an 8 p.m. game against the loser of a five o\’clock duel between the host team and Potter-McKean.

Kyle Gilbert pitched a three-hitter as QuadCo, a team from the Clarion area, advanced to the winner\’s bracket semifinal against Williamsport.

Clearfield spoiled his shutout in the seventh inning when Eric Dugan singled and scored on Logan Shadeck\’s hit. Isaac Butler\’s first-inning single was the only other hit off Gilbert.

Dugan was the loser, striking out four and walking one in three innings. Chad Zurat also pitched three innings, striking out three and walking two. They surrendered eight hits.

Tom Zurat and Greg Dugan of the Clearfield Lions are the coaches for the Clearfield team. The players are Eric Dugan, Chad Zurat, Will Gangewere and Matt Lonjin of the Clearfield Lions, Brady Dixon and Luke Peterson of Collins Masonry, Kyle Timchak, Ben Johnson and Tyler Sipe of C-Classic, Scott McKenrick of Clearfield Bank & Trust and Isaac Butler and Logan Shadeck of Clearfield Moose.
