HARRISBURG, Pa.,(PRNewswire)- One hundred educators who
effectively use te chnology in their classrooms to help students learn have
been named “Keystones: Technology Integrators.”
“These teachers are innovators because they upgraded their classrooms
to improve the education of our children so they are better able to meet
the technological demands of the global marketplace,” Department of
Education Secretary Gerald L. Zahorchak said of the finalists picked in the
third year of the program. “The learning they foster with the use of
technology is consistent with Governor Rendell’s vision of Pennsylvania’s
first-class education system.”
More than 1,720 teachers from across the state participated in the
Keystones: Technology Integrators program over the past three years.
Keystones are nominated annually at the school level by principals, and
superintendents from each school district selects up to two Keystones as
the respective districts’ representatives.
Ten regional review teams then select three Keystones per Intermediate
Unit area and two additional Keystones from each region (100 total) to
attend a statewide leadership and technology integration summit each
summer.
The annual Keystones Integrator Summit will take place Aug. 6-10 at
Saint Francis University in Loretto, Cambria County. The finalists will
share strategies for using technology as a tool to communicate, collaborate
and problem solve in support of effective teaching and learning in content
areas.
