Stolen Vehicle Report Leads to Police Pursuit

CLEARFIELD – A report of a stolen vehicle out of Ohio led to a police pursuit Monday in Clearfield.

According to Clearfield Regional police, at approximately 4:43 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Rockton Mountain Highway in Lawrence Township because DuBois state police had spotted a stolen vehicle from Ohio.

As they approached Clearfield, the operator reportedly accelerated when state police attempted a traffic stop. This prompted regional police to join the pursuit on West Front Street where the suspect vehicle continued towards West Pine Street into the West Side area of Clearfield Borough.

The vehicle traveled through several yards before reaching the end of West Seventh Avenue and Clearfield Street where the female operator and male passenger, both juveniles, proceeded to flee on foot.

The male was taken into custody following a short foot chase, but the female was able to evade officers, police said.

Officers—with assistance from several state troopers and a county sheriff’s deputy—subsequently canvassed the area searching for the female suspect. She was reportedly located approximately 45 minutes later on West Seventh Avenue.

The female was also allegedly found to have stolen a cell phone from a resident along West Sixth Avenue. It was recovered from her person following apprehension.

Both juveniles will be charged by state police at DuBois.

During this incident, regional police located a female (uninvolved with the pursuit) hiding behind a truck along Nichols Street and West Sixth Avenue. She was identified and determined to have active arrest warrants through the county Domestic Relations and Sheriff’s offices. She was transported to county jail on the warrants.
