CLEARFIELD – Numerous fire crews were called to a three-alarm commercial building fire early Tuesday morning in Clearfield.
The fire was reported at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday at Cuetara-Hile Memorial & Monument Center, located at 1315 Riverview Rd., Clearfield, according to the Hyde and Lawrence Township Fire Companies.
First-arriving units encountered a large working fire with flames showing and immediately requested a second alarm. A third alarm was requested further into the incident.
Per scanner transmissions, there were reports of the roof collapsing, causing firefighters to fight on the defensive, and also of explosions heard inside the structure.
Fire crews operated on-scene for over six hours.
The fire is being investigated by a Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal unit.
Assisting on-scene were the Hyde Fire Company, Clearfield Fire Department, Lawrence Township Fire Company, Curwensville Rescue Hose & Ladder Company, Glen Richey Fire Company, Grampian Penn Bloom Fire Company, Brady Township Fire Company, Oklahoma Fire Company, Morris Township Fire Company, Glassflat Fire Company, Philipsburg Fire Department, BJW Fire Company, Winburne Fire Company, Columbia Fire Company, West Sandy Hose Company, Madera Fire Company, Penfield Fire Company, DuBois Fire Department and Clearfield EMS.
Multiple fire units were also placed on standby for stations operating on-scene in the event there was another fire incident.
