Learn About Managing Credit Cards During ‘Your Money Matters’ Webinar

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Extension will offer a free webinar aimed at helping participants manage credit cards wisely to maintain financial health.

“Your Money Matters: Credit Cards” will take place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., on Oct. 9, 2024.

This webinar is designed for the public, human services providers and anyone interested in developing a healthier relationship with money, building a realistic spending plan and working toward financial goals.

Credit cards are powerful financial tools, especially for building a credit history, organizers noted. However, they may cause consumers to spend more than what is allowed in their budget. Credit cards can create the illusion of free money.

This session can help participants:

— List the types, as well as the pros and cons, of credit cards.

— Become familiar with credit card billing statements.

— Analyze relationships between credit card, credit report, credit history and credit score.

— Recognize credit card danger signs.

Participants of the series will receive a copy of Penn State Extension’s Build a Budget workbook to set them on a course for regular money management.

Webinar material is used with permission and based on the “Money Counts: A Financial Literacy Series” program at Penn State’s Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center.

Penn State Extension offers this webinar free of charge, but participants must register by 12 p.m. Oct. 9, to receive the link to access the webinar. Registrants also will receive access to the webinar recording.
