Smithmill Man Charged with Homicide Following DUI Crash with Pedestrian

Cooper Twp. — One person is dead and another has been charged with homicide in a related DUI crash with a UTV.

Clearfield-based state police have charged Nathaniel Robert Beers, 22, of Smithmill with homicide by vehicle while DUI and various other offenses.

According to reports, Beers was driving a 2024 Polaris RZR UTV northbound of Sportsman’s Road when he struck the victim who was walking on the shoulder of the road.

Beers was formally charged at an arraignment in front of District Judge Jerome Nevling on Monday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11. Beers is currently lodged in Clearfield County Jail on $75,000 bail.
