United Way Donates Books for Children

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Area United Way recently delivered nearly 250 books as part of the United Way Reading Ripples project.

Nancy Pinto, CAUW chief professional officer, delivered the books to Salvation Army Envoy John Barnett as part of the annual National Day of Action.

“There is no such thing as a wrong day to give back,” shared Pinto. “Each year, United Ways across the country participate in a nation-wide day of service called Day Of Action. It’s the perfect way to show, by example what it means to ‘live united.’”

“This day focuses on giving to charity … for others. The Army is one of the United Way’s 23 local member agencies.  Gently-used books are collected for ‘Reading Ripples’, coordinated, processed and re-distributed,” Pinto added.

“Helping United Way helps so many other important agencies that touch lives from infants to the elderly. Newer luggage items have also been collected to help those at Pentz Run Youth Services.”

Donations can be made to CAUW, 18 N. Second St., P.O. Box 1430, Clearfield, PA 16830, or via PayPal at clearfieldareaunitedway.org.

Additional information is available at 814-765-6521, as the United Way has more books available, and volunteers would be glad to deliver them to children’s groups in need who share a love for reading.
