Lawrence Twp. Proposes Settlement Counteroffer to CMA

CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township board of supervisors on Tuesday gave authorization for a settlement counteroffer to be made to Clearfield Municipal Authority with relation to the authority’s lawsuit against the township.

The authority filed the lawsuit against the township, seeking the release of sewer surcharge funds totaling approximately $360,000. A settlement offer was then made to have the township make one payment totaling $200,000.

However, township Solicitor William A. Shaw Jr. was authorized Tuesday to make a counteroffer under which the authority would receive $100,000 up-front.

Then, CMA would receive a second payment totaling $50,000 in six months followed by a third and final payment totaling $50,000 six months later.

At this time, the supervisors are currently awaiting the authority’s acceptance of the terms of its counteroffer, as well as the proposed payment schedule.

The supervisors also authorized the closure of all credits cards that are currently assigned to any of the supervisors leaving one administration credit card and one road crew credit card.

The next scheduled meeting for the Lawrence Township Supervisors is Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.
