PIAA Officials’ Appreciation Week for Spring Sports is April 14-20

Mechanicsburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) for the third consecutive
year is dedicating three weeks to recognize and show appreciation to the nearly 14,000 PIAA registered
officials.

The fall sports officials were recognized October 1-7, 2023 and the winter sports officials were
honored the week of January 7-13, 2024. It is only fitting in the final competition season in 2023-2024 that
we recognize the spring sport officials.

The Spring Sports Officials Appreciation Week will begin on Sunday, April 14th and will continue through April 20, 2024.

PIAA Board of Directors President and PIAA District II Chairman Frank Majikes mentioned “For the third
consecutive year PIAA member schools are happy to celebrate and recognize the important part that PIAA
registered officials play in the education of Pennsylvania students.

The efforts of all PIAA registered officials are underappreciated by many. Through these three weeks of recognition our member schools are able tothank officials for their efforts.” President Majikes has been a registered PIAA official now for over 50 years,so these weeks are especially meaningful to him.

PIAA is requesting the assistance of administrators, coaches, and players at PIAA member schools to
highlight the efforts of officials working on their campuses during these Appreciation Weeks.

Member schools have been provided with a listing of potential activities they can use to illustrate their appreciation.

The PIAAwants to continue to grow the three appreciation weeks by celebrating some of the most important
assets to our student-athletes, while also bringing awareness to opportunities for future officials and jr.
officials.
