BELLEFONTE — The Clearfield Bison took it on the road Tuesday night as they closed out their dual meet regular season with a 13-1 record after routing the Red Raiders 44-20.
The match started at 152 pounds and the Bison won the first six matches to race out to a 27-0 lead and were never threatened team score-wise after that.
Ty Aveni (27-13) started things out with a 6-0 shut out, scoring two points in each period via takedown, takedown, reversal respectively.
Junior Brady Collins (31-2) picked up the first of four Bison falls after recording eight takedowns, rolling out to a 20-6 lead after two periods, before finishing the bout in 4:23.
At 172, Will Domico (19-8) had an 8-2 win on the strength of three takedowns and a reversal, while only yielding two escapes.
The lead became 18-0 after the 189 pound match when Hunter Ressler (14-15), down 2-1 after the first period, had an escape, takedown, and fall within 45 seconds of the second period.
Carter Chamberlain (22-6) had the Bison’s second consecutive fall as his match only lasted 1:28 at 215 pounds.
Nick Bailor (12-13) made it a clean sweep of the heavyweights when he escaped in the second period and held on for a 1-0 victory.
Down 27-0, the hosts picked up their first points of the night with a fall at 107.
114 pounds saw Dakota Shugarts (16-11) receive Clearfield’s lone forfeit for the match to up the score to 33-6.
Cash Diehl (22-8) piled up the points at 121 and was up 12-3 after one period, recording a fall in 2:33 while up 14-3, and the Bison had their biggest lead of the night thus far at 39-6.
Cameron Garcia picked up a 6-2 win for Bellefonte at 127.
133 pounder Colton Ryan (27-8) stayed on his current roll as he picked up the visitor’s last points with a 15-0 tech fall, picking up 11 of the points on nearfalls before the match ended in 3:42.
Down 44-9, Bellefonte scored the last 11 points of the match with a forfeit win at 139 and a 15-0 tech fall of their own at 145.
The Bison will now rest and heal up leading into Saturday’s District 9 Team Wrestling Championships at Brookville High School. The top seeded Bison will face off against the winner of the Brockway-St. Marys quarterfinal match, which is set for 10:00 AM.
