CHEST TOWNSHIP – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that preliminary work on a Clearfield County box culvert replacement project will begin on Monday, July 31.
Replacing the structure, which spans Holes Run along Route 3014 (Black Elk Road) in Chest Township, will improve its condition rating from poor to good.
Preliminary work will take place off the roadway, but PennDOT urges drivers to exercise caution in this and all work zones, obey the posted speed limit and always buckle up.
Starting Thursday, Aug. 3, the bridge will close, and traffic will follow a detour using Route 3003 (Punkin Ridge Road), Route 3022 (Berwinsdale Road) and Route 3005 (Irvona Road).
PennDOT Clearfield County Maintenance will complete all work on this project. It anticipates completing the project by the end of August. All work is weather dependent.
The bridge is 11 feet long and carries an average of 616 vehicles daily.
