EXPLOREJEFFERSON: Hearing Set for Next Week for DuBois Man Accused of Taking Payment for Heating Installation, Failing to Perform Work

REYNOLDSVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A hearing is scheduled for next week for a DuBois man accused of taking a payment for installation of a heating system and failing to complete any of the work.

Court documents indicate 55-year-old Joseph Edward Manners is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 11:45 a.m. on January 25, on the following charge:

– Theft By Deception-False Impression, Felony 3

The charge stems from an investigation that began in early November.

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:00 a.m. on November 9, 2021, a known victim reported an incident of theft.

The complaint indicates the victim provided police with an invoice dated July 20, 2021, from a known heating and air conditioning business for a new heating system to be installed at the victim’s residence. The two signatures on the invoice belonged to the victim and Joseph Manners.

According to the complaint, on July 20, the victim placed a downpayment of $6,000.00 cash to Manners for the work that was to be performed at his Reynoldsville residence and another residence in DuBois.

The complaint states that as of November 29, Manners still had not delivered any materials or begun the installation of the heating system.

The charge was filed against Manners through Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office on November 29, 2021.
