COOPER TOWNSHIP – One person is dead following a fatal crash Tuesday afternoon in Cooper Township, Clearfield County.
According to Clearfield-based state police, the crash occurred at 1:15 p.m. on state Route 53 near the westbound entrance to Interstate 80, Exit 133.
A 54 year-old male of Philipsburg was traveling south and turning left to enter I-80 in his tractor-trailer but reportedly failed to observe an oncoming vehicle, causing the collision.
State police say the 62-year-old woman operating that vehicle was flown to UPMC Altoona where she was later pronounced dead by trauma surgeons. The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn’t injured.
Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services, Grassflat, Morris Township and Philipsburg fire departments, PennDOT and towing services assisted on-scene.
