CLEARFIELD – Festivals are returning to Clearfield.
During Thursday’s Clearfield Borough meeting, Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott informed council that, with the governor’s plan to lift more restrictions, the Clearfield Revitalization Corp. has applied for permits to close streets for upcoming festivals.
Last year communities across the country cancelled normal activities due to COVID-19 concerns.
Street closures were approved for the following: Family Fun Day on June 6, Bloom and Berry Bash on June 26, National Night Out on July 27, Fall Festival and Pumpkin Run on Oct. 9 and Halloween Parade on Oct. 26.
Council also approved signing the official agreement between the borough and Clearfield Municipal Authority to have CMA take over the borough’s sanitary sewer lines and all loans, agreements, etc.
A resolution was also passed to that effect, and an ordinance will be advertised making the switch official.
Council regretfully accepted the retirement and resignation of Richard Shaffer, who has been involved with the Clearfield-Lawrence Township Airport Authority for decades, most recently as manager of the airport.
Stott noted it was a difficult decision for Shaffer to make and Council President Lew Duttry added, “He will be missed.”
Finally, under public safety, police chief Vincent McGinnis announced officers will be conducting extra patrols due to an Aggressive Driving and DUI grant.
Council also authorized McGinnis, Stott and Mayor James Schell to conduct the sale of a 2001 F150 police truck to any law enforcement agencies.
