Lane Restrictions on Route 322 East This Week Near Port Matilda

PORT MATILDA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting area motorists to lane restrictions scheduled for this week on Route 322 east near Port Matilda.

PennDOT expects the lane closures to be in place on Wednesday, March 17 and possibly Thursday, March 18 along Port Matilda Mountain between Sandy Ridge Road and Flat Rock.

Alternating lane closures will be utilized to lay out mill and fill work scheduled to take place in May. The lane restrictions will be in place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Drivers should remain alert for lane closures and should slow their speeds to help ensure the safety of roadway workers.  

This preliminary work is part of a $2.8 million project, to address improvements on 6 ½ miles of roadway in Centre and Clinton counties.

PennDOT will issue updates as work progress requires. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this project.

Work on this project will be done in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan.

The safety plan includes protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the job site and relevant training.
