DUBOIS – The Sandy Township Supervisors on Monday voted to initiate the purchase process for an Aqua Scan leak detection system for $37,500.
The township’s current pricing is under a Costars contract; however, if there’s a less costly alternative, it will seek bids, according to Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh.
This system, he said, will allow the township to proactively locate leaks in its aging water system without relying on outside consultants.
He explained that the primary issue has been scheduling consultants on a timely basis. “Outside consultants have been very effective; it’s just hard to get them in.”
In other business, Arbaugh reported that both Sandy Township and DuBois City have received the complete draft of their consolidation study. He said he’s reviewed the draft with City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio, and their concerns have been submitted to their consultants
