Coyne Waives Hearing in Theft Case

CLEARFIELD – A Philipsburg man is being accused of using another male’s Kwik Fill account to steal nearly $700 while he was employed at the gas station and convenience store.

Jonathan Charles Coyne, 56, is charged by Pennsylvania State Police with 31 felony counts of access device fraud and 31 misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking.

Coyne waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court. His bail is currently set at $20,000 unsecured.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 8, 2019, a male contacted state police about fraudulent charges on his Kwik Fill credit account.

Upon investigation by company investigator, Brian Ray, it was found Coyne allegedly used the male’s account 31 times, stealing at least $693.46.

The thefts occurred between July 1, 2019 and Aug. 5, 2019, when Coyne was employed by Kwik Fill, located at 1579 Walton St., Decatur Township.

State police say Coyne was seen on surveillance video pulling a piece of paper from his wallet and manually entering the male’s credit card number into the register.
