State police at DuBois
- State police reported a drug-related DUI occurred Saturday on Interstate 80 eastbound in Washington Township, Jefferson County. During a traffic stop, troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from within an Ohio man’s vehicle. Upon questioning and field sobriety testing, he was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are currently pending.
- State police received a report about an incident of harassment Sunday on Taylor Avenue in Falls Creek Borough, Jefferson County. During a domestic altercation, a Brockport couple engaged in a verbal argument over marital property, which allegedly became physical in nature. Both were cited for the incident through the district court.
- On Friday state police picked up 47-year-old Cynthia Kirkwood of DuBois for a scheduled preliminary hearing at the office of Magisterial District Judge Pat Ford. She was found to have an active warrant for drug possession in the state of Indiana. Because officials intend to extradite Kirkwood, she was held in the Clearfield County Jail. She will also be charged with arrest prior to requisition.
State police at Rockview
- State police received a report about an incident of public drunkenness that occurred Thursday on Decatur Street in Chester Hill Borough. During the incident, a 29-year-old Philipsburg woman was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance, and subsequently cited by state police through the district court.
- State police reported an incident of DUI that occurred Sunday on Walton Street in Decatur Township. During a traffic stop, a 51-year-old Fallentimber man was allegedly found to be intoxicated, and subsequently arrested for DUI.
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred Dec. 24, 2019 on the Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township, Centre County. During the incident, someone allegedly stole two rings from a Philipsburg residence. The investigation is continuing at this time.
Clearfield Borough
- Police received a report about a dispute between a mother and daughter on South Third Street. Upon arrival on-scene, police deescalated the situation.
- Police assisted an individual who had locked his keys inside his vehicle on Quarry Avenue.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle in the cemetery after hours. Police arrived in the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
- Police received information about a physical altercation that was supposed to take place on Leavy Avenue. Upon arrival on-scene, police were able to prevent the incident.
- Police received a report about a suspicious male who looked inside a residence and then knocked on its door. After being scared off, police say the male was located and warned for his actions. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- Police received a report of open burning at a local residence. Upon arrival on-scene, officers saw a couch on fire in the backyard. Police say the residents were warned for their actions, and the fire was extinguished.
- Police and an on-duty fire chief assisted an individual by retrieving her phone that had been dropped into a drainage grate.
- Police arrested Clearfield County’s “Fugitive of the Week.”
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about an incident of child endangerment Feb. 11 at the Edgewood Apartments in Clearfield. Upon arrival on-scene, officers observed two, young children, both of whom were unattended at the residence; and police say one of the children was running around outside. Inside the home, police found a 29-year-old Clearfield man asleep in a closed bedroom. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- Police received a report about a dog bite that occurred Feb. 12 on Lawhead Street, Hyde. According to police, the victim was bitten by a dog while walking to a local garage to get his vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was learned the dog’s owner doesn’t put the dog on a leash when its left outside, and it’s known to chase after cars and people. Police say the victim wasn’t seriously injured and declined medical attention; contact was also made with an individual at the dog owner’s residence regarding the situation. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- Police received a report about an incident of identity theft Sunday at the Starr Vineyard & Winery store at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, Clearfield. During the incident, someone purchased two bottles of wine and allegedly used the victim’s name, address and e-mail. The investigation is continuing at this time.
