MEN’S SWIMMING
ALTOONA — Freshman Isaac Swanson (Clearfield) touched the wall first in four individual events, setting his sixth Penn State Altoona record in one, and was on two winning relay teams as the Lions swept Wells (N.Y.) 130-10 last Tuesday and Gallaudet (D.C.) 151-91 Friday.
Swanson posted a 4:55.28 in his first 500-yard freestyle race and stopped the clock at 58.64 seconds in the 100 individual medley against Wells after leading off with a 25.61 split for the 200 medley foursome that won in 1:48.35.
Against Gallaudet, Swanson won the 100 free in 49.98 and the 100 backstroke in 55.06, placed second in the 100 butterfly in 57.36 and turned in a 22.52 leadoff leg for the victorious 200 freestyle relay quartet (1:37.29).

WRESTLING
ERIE — Sophomore Luke McGonigal (Clearfield) remained undefeated in dual meets with two wins for Mercyhurst on the Lakers’ home mat last week.
He pinned John Halajain at 1:14 in a 40-4 victory over Fairmont (W.Va.) State Friday and followed up with a key 4-1 decision over Nathan Bowlen in an 18-17 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference squeaker over Seton Hill Sunday.
McGonigal, 10-0 in duals and 17-5 overall with 10 falls, cracked the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II rankings at No. 11 at 197 pounds.
The Lakers (8-2) are ranked No. 14.

WILLIAMSPORT — Lycoming junior Josiah McClarren (Clearfield) won four of six bouts to claim fifth place at the 2020 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by the Warriors Saturday.
McClarren lost his first match, 18-2 to No. 1 seed and eventual champion Brett Kaliner of Stevens but bounced back to pin Alec Martin of Wilkes at :54, Liam Walker of Stevens at 1:13 and Kyle Tino of Wilkes at 3:33.
After dropping an 8-5 decision to Cody Dix of Wilkes, McClarren edged Jonah Schectman of Stevens 4-2 in the fifth-place match and now sports a 12-9 record.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
GREENSBURG — Senior Cody Spaid (Clearfield) broke into double figures for the sixth time this season with 14 points as Pitt-Greensburg defeated visiting Mount Aloysius 85-61 last Wednesday.
He also had six rebounds and a career-high six assists that led the Bobcats, whose eighth win in nine Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference outings vaulted them into first place because of La Roche’s 72-71 loss to Franciscan.
Spaid recorded nine points, seven rebounds and four assists Saturday when the Bobcats (13-2) won 79-68 at Alfred (N.Y.) State in AMCC action.
Spaid has tallied 144 points in his 15 starts, a 9.6 average, and collected a team-high 113 rebounds. He also has 48 assists, 15 steals and 15 blocks.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
BEAVER FALLS — Freshman Madi Weber (Curwensville) had a busy eight minutes in Saint Vincent’s 106-54 rout of host Geneva Saturday.
She made two free throws, grabbed two defensive rebounds and registered two assists, one steal and one block as the Bearcats remained undefeated atop the Presidents’ Athletic Conference at 7-0 and pushed their record to 11-5.
In six appearances, Weber has logged 22 points, seven rebounds, two assist, two steals and four blocks.
