CANONSBURG — Curwensville’s Tessa Queen placed fifth at 142 pounds at the Powerade Tournament at Canon-McMillan High School on December 30. Queen went 4-2 with three pins and a 4-0 decision. She defeated Canon-McMillan’s Paige Ward by fall in 3:18 in the fifth-place bout.
Queen, who is an honorable mention in the PA-Wrestling girls rankings at 142, is 8-3 on the season.
The Lady Tide were 30th overall out of 53 teams in the rugged tournament, winning seven bouts and dropping 20.
Curwensville’s Jordin Peoples was 2-2 with two pins at 124 pounds. She is 3-4 this season.
Canon-McMillan won the team title with 127.5 points. Connellsville took second with 106.
Punxsutawney’s Jael Miller won the 170-pound weight class.
The Lady Tide return to action Saturday, January 4, hosting the Curwensville Tournament.
