FLINTON – After scoring just four points the night before against Elk County Catholic, the Curwensville boys basketball team found its offense Wednesday evening against Glendale scoring 52 points.
Unfortunately it wasn’t enough as the Vikings came out victorious in the Moshannon Valley League game 66-52.
For the Golden Tide, take away a dreary first quarter being outscored 15-3, and things may have been different.
Curwensville stayed right with Glendale over the next three quarters, losing just 51-49. But the damage in the first quarter did the Golden Tide in on this night.
The Tide’s Trevor Lansberry, a junior, had a career game, scoring 20 points, while teammates Adam Miller with 13 and Danny McGarry adding 10 helped the Golden Tide offense.
Glendale was paced on offense by Ryan Sinclair with 28 points with Justin Jasper adding 17.
Curwensville went to the free throw line 27 times, connecting on 13 while Glendale was just 5-16 from the charity stripe.
The junior varsity game was a victory for the Vikings as they defeated the Golden Tide by a score of 47-36.
Curwensville (1-9) is back in action, at home, on Friday night, when it hosts the Kane Wolves. The JV contest starts at 6 pm with the varsity game to immediately follow.
