MEN’S SWIMMING
ALTOONA — Freshman Isaac Swanson (Clearfield) etched his name in the Penn State Altoona record book for the fifth time by touching the wall at 10:09.59 in his first freestyle race at 1,000 yards, bettering the previous standard by 13 seconds, as the Lions dunked Bethany (W.Va.) 121-29 Saturday.
Swanson also won the 50 free in 22.72 seconds.
He also owns the school marks for the 50 free, 100 and 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley.
The Lions are 4-2.

WRESTLING
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sophomore 197-pounder Luke McGonigal (Clearfield) won all four of his matches for Mercyhurst at the 2020 U.S. Marine Corps/National Wrestling Coaches Association Multi-Division Duals that involved 92 men’s and women’s college teams in the Kentucky Exposition Center Friday and Saturday.
McGonigal beat John Anderson of Maryville 4-2, pinned Rodsean Graham of Wisconsin-Parkside at 2:03, major decisioned Jud Ramage of Gannon 9-0 and decisioned Michael Viramontes of Notre Dame College 7-3.
The Lakers (6-2) defeated Wis.-Parkside 24-14 and No. 24-ranked Gannon 28-13 while losing to Maryville (Mo.) 17-16 and No. 3 Notre Dame (Ohio) 22-13.
McGonigal’s record is 8-0 for dual meets and 15-5 overall.

LEXINGTON, Va. — Redshirt sophomore 184-pounder Shae Bloom (Curwensville) made his season debut for Clarion against Mid-American Conference rival Cleveland State at the Virginia Military Institute Quad Duals Friday and lost a 15-8 decision to DeAndre Nassar.
The Golden Eagles won the match 25-15 and followed up with victories over VMI 33-8 and California Baptist 30-10 to pad their record to 6-3.
Bloom was 2-1 in dual meets and 15-6 overall at 184 and 197 last season, splitting four bouts to place fourth at the heavier weight at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Individual Championships.

WILLIAMSPORT — Junior Josiah McClarren (Clearfield) was a 9-2 winner over Albert Xing at 149 pounds for host Lycoming in a 33-11 victory over Williams at the Budd Whitehill National Duals Friday.
The Warriors had lost 25-22 to Wisconsin-Stevens Point and 30-18 to No. 17-ranked Messiah earlier, dropping into Saturday’s ninth-place bracket, where they defeated York 34-10 and Castleton (Vt.) 24-17.
McClarren is 2-0 in duals and 6-7 overall.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
GREENSBURG — Senior Cody Spaid (Clearfield) made six of nine shots, one a three-pointer, for 13 points and also had four rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks in Pitt-Greensburg’s 103-80 non-conference victory over Penn College last Wednesday.
The Bobcats traveled to Buffalo, N.Y., Saturday and upped their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference second-place record to 7-1 by trimming Medaille 89-70 with Spaid contributing four points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.
Spaid leads the 11-2 Bobcats in rebounds with 100, a 7.7 average that ranks sixth in the AMCC. He is fourth in field goal percentage (60.7) on 54 makes in 89 attempts.
The every-game starter has collected 121 points, a 9.3 average, while logging 38 assists, 15 steals and 15 blocks. He is second on the team in helpers and blocks.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
BETHANY, W.Va. — Freshman Madi Weber (Curwensville) scored four points and pulled in one rebound as Saint Vincent reeled off its fifth consecutive Presidents’ Athletic Conference win, 79-58, against host Bethany Saturday.
She had two points and three rebounds when the Bearcats defeated Thiel 86-48 at Greenville earlier in the week.
Saint Vincent (9-5) went to Wilmington last Wednesday and turned back Westminster 66-51 in a showdown for first place in the PAC.
Weber, in five appearances, has 20 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
