Campus Corner: Spaid Top Five in Two AMCC Statistics

MEN’S BASKETBALL

PITTSBURGH — Senior Cody Spaid (Clearfield) was one of five Pitt-Greensburg players in double figures with his 11 points, but the Bobcats came up short in their showdown with La Roche for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference lead Saturday.

The hosts ended the Bobcats’ seven-game winning streak, 89-53, to vault past them at 5-0.

Spaid also had five rebounds and two assists for the 7-2 Bobcats, who fell into a second-place tie with Hilbert (N.Y.) at 5-1.

Spaid leads the team in rebounds with 73, an 8.1 average that ranks fifth in the AMCC.

He is third in the conference with a 61.9 percentage on 39 field goals in 63 shots.

His other stats show 24 assists, 11 steals and nine blocks for his nine starts.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

LATROBE — Freshman Madi Weber (Curwensville) scored two points in her third appearance for Saint Vincent as the Bearcats defeated The College of Brockport (N.Y.) 64-52 Thursday in the first round of the Saint Vincent College Classic.

She did not play Friday when Gettysburg dropped the Bearcats to 6-3 by getting a three-pointer with 5.1 seconds remaining to win 72-71.

Weber’s totals are 14 points, one rebound, three steals and two blocked shots.
