Curwensville Wrestlers 4-1 at Redbank Valley Duals

REDBANK VALLEY – The Curwensville Golden Tide (7-5) improved their record Saturday following a great 4-1 day in which they won two matches by a total of three points. Their sole loss came by Kane, but they had wins over Jamestown, Marion Center, Oswayo Valley, and Slippery Rock.

The closest match came against Jamestown, where the match ended in a 36-36 tie. Winning on criteria D, meaning they won the most matches (including forfeits), the Golden Tide were awarded a tiebreaker point to get the W for the team before moving on.

Still undefeated for the year is senior Jake McCracken (11-0), who picked up three more falls, a decision and a forfeit over the weekend.

Sophomore Jacob Farley also had a good weekend wrestling between 106 and 113. He went 4-1 on the weekend to improve his record to 10-2, and also picked up three pins.

Overall, the Curwensville wrestling team has now picked up 85 wins and 56 losses, with many of those wins coming from pins and bonus points.

The Golden Tide will now have the holidays off before returning to the mat on January 4th at the Bo Wood Tournament.

This weekend marked a vast improvement over last years 1-4 showing, as the team now has a winning record for the first time in two seasons and has more wins than they did in the 2018-19 wrestling season.
