WOMEN’S SWIMMING
CLARION — For the second time in eight days, sophomore Paige Mikesell (Clearfield) was a triplewinner for Indiana University of Pennsylvania in a 173.5-112.5 loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Clarion Saturday.
She touched the Tippin Natatorium wall at 53.53 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, 1:55.27 in the 200 free and 57.65 in the 100 butterfly. All bettered PSAC qualifying standards.
In addition, she swam the fly leg in 25.27 for the Crimson Hawks’ 200 medley relay team that finished second in 1:51.28.
Mikesell has recorded nine individual wins and been on three victorious medley relay foursomes for the Crimson Hawks, who are 2-3 in dual meets.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
HAMBURG, N.Y. — Senior forward Cody Spaid (Clearfield) scored six points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Pitt-Greensburg rolled past host Hilbert 82-62 in a showdown for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference lead Saturday.
He also had team-highs in assists with five, matching his season high, and two blocked shots.
The Bobcats are 5-0 in the AMCC and 7-1 overall.
Spaid leads them in rebounds with 68, an 8.5 average that ranks fifth in the AMCC, and assists with 27. He has scored 75 points, made 11 steals and blocked nine shots.

WRESTLING
INDIANAPOLIS — Mercyhurst sophomore 197-pounder Luke McGonigal (Clearfield) split four matches at the 41st Midwest Classic hosted by Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Saturday and Sunday.
He defeated Cory Schmidt of Minnesota State Moorhead 6-3 and Nathan Bowlen of Seton Hill 3-1 (sudden victory) for a 10-bout winning streak before running into Tiffin’s Nicholas Mason, the No. 2 seed who advanced with a fall at 1:13.
McGonigal then was eliminated by Gannon’s Freddie Nixon, 7-4, and will take an 11-5 record into the new year.
On Thursday, he was named PPG Paints Mercyhurst Men’s Athlete of the Week for his four falls in dual meets the previous weekend.
The Lakers, with 64.5 points, placed 11th among the 37 teams in the largest NCAA Division II team tournament of the season.

MEN’S SWIMMING
CLARION — Juniors Hayden Steiner (Clearfield) and Tate Swanson (Clearfield) picked up points for Clarion in a 165-110 victory over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent Indiana University of Pennsylvania Saturday.
Steiner turned in a 24.84-second butterfly leg and Swanson a 22.15 anchor split for the Golden Eagle 200 ‘B’ medley relay team that took second in 1:41.24.
Both added second in individual races, Steiner third in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.94 and Swanson in the 50 free in 22.79.
Clarion is 1-2 against PSAC teams and 2-3 overall.
