MEN’S SWIMMING
Sophomore Chase Bietz (Clearfield) was a doublewinner as Penn State Behrend defeated Alfred State 162-117 in its first dual meet of the season Saturday.
Bietz touched the wall at 2:14.28 in the 200-yard breaststroke, more than 15 seconds ahead of the runner-up, and turned in a 27.06 breaststroke leg for the Lions’ 200 medley relay foursome that was victorious in 1:39.99.

MEADVILLE — Junior Tate Swanson (Clearfield) was on the meet-closing 200-yard freestyle relay team and added points in the 50 free while junior Hayden Steiner (Clearfield) earned points in three events as Clarion bested host Allegheny 170-130 Friday.
Swanson posted a 22.90 second split for the Golden Eagle relay quartet that was clocked in 1:29.95.
He placed fourth in the 50 free in 23.67 and sixth in the 100 free in 52.82.
Steiner was fifth in both the 100 fly (58.02) and 200 fly (2:12.97), swam the fly leg in 25.05 for the 200 medley foursome that placed third in 1:43.71 and anchored the ‘C’ 200 free relay quartet that placed fifth in 1:37.19.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
EDINBORO — Sophomore Paige Mikesell (Clearfield) won the 100-yard freestyle race and touched second in the 200 individual medley for Indiana University of Pennsylvania in a 110-95 loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Edinboro Friday.
Her times were 53.53 seconds in the freestyle and 2:10.77 for the IM.
Mikesell also turned in a 25.39 butterfly leg for the Crimson Hawk 200 medley team that placed second in 1:50.62.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
ERIE — Sophomore goalkeeper Madi Jones (Clearfield) had to handle only one shot in a pair of shutout victories by Penn State Behrend last week that kept the Lions right behind undefeated Pitt-Greensburg in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
Jones was in goal for the first 79:38.38 minutes of Tuesday’s 4-0 win at Pitt-Bradford, turning away the Panthers’ lone shot on goal, and played the entire way of Saturday’s 2-0 win over visiting LaRoche.
She has started the Lions’ last 10 games and owns a 7-1-2 record with a streak of 420 minutes without allowing a goal.
Her goals-against average has dipped to 0.97 for 932.62 minutes, and she has registered 21 saves.
Penn State Behrend is 6-0-1 in the AMCC and 7-5-2 overall.

INDIANA — Freshman Alayna Ryan (Clearfield) cashed a crossfield pass from Mya Hillard at the 5:31 mark to trigger an 8-0 win by Indiana University of Pennsylvania over Salem (W.Va.) in a non-conference game Saturday.
The game-winning goal was her second for the 7-5 Crimson Hawks. She registered one other shot.
IUP fell to 5-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference last Wednesday when Edinboro prevailed 3-2 in double overtime.
Ryan has made nine starts in 12 appearances with three goals and three assists for nine points, second on the team. Seven of her 13 shots have been on goal.

LOCK HAVEN — Senior linebacker Christian Rumery (Clearfield) saw action for Lock Haven in a 35-12 loss to undefeated and No. 18-ranked Kutztown in front of 503 fans at Hubert Jack Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Rumery has made two solo stops and six tackle assists for the Bald Eagles, now 1-6 following their fourth consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division setback.

WAYNESBURG — Freshman cornerback Noah Von Gunden (Curwensville) made his third appearance for Grove City in Saturday’s 42-24 Presidents’ Athletic Conference win over Waynesburg that attracted 982 fans into John F. Wiley Stadium.
Von Gunden has registered two solo tackles for the Wolverines, who are 5-2 with a 4-2 PAC record.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
OBERLIN, Ohio — Freshman Abby LaBorde (Clearfield) crossed the finish line in 23:48.1 to help Geneva claim 18th place in the 32-team Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin Saturday.
LaBorde was the fifth finisher for the Golden Tornadoes, four of whom were timed within 21 seconds of each other behind sophomore Elly McGillivray, who placed 46th in 22:49.4.
LaBorde placed 130th overall among the 240 runners.
