Coudersport Rips Golden Tide 44-0

CURWENSVILLE – Unbeaten Coudersport entered Friday night’s game at Curwensville and left for home the same, still unbeaten, now at 5-0.

In a total domination the Falcons handed the Golden Tide its fourth shutout of the season, 44-0.

Unofficially, Curwensville had just one first down the entire game, and were out gained 416-16.

Hayden Keck, the Falcons junior quarterback, opened the scoring with a three yard keeper at the 7:21 point of the first quarter and then ran in the two point conversion attempt as Coudersport was on its way, 8-0.

As the first quarter clock hit zero Coudersport running back Travis Gleason scored on a 12 yard run with Keck once again running in the two point conversion.

The Falcons, up 16-0, scored once more before the intermission at the 5:08 mark of the second quarter on a one yard run by Keck who once again made good on the two point conversion run making it 24-0 at the half in favor of the Falcons.

Coudersport took the second half kick-off and marched 90 yards to pay dirt utilizing five minutes and 14 seconds to score with 6:46 remaining in the third on a 19 yard run by Gleason. The Falcons fumbled the snap on the extra point attempt but now had a comfortable 30-0 edge over the Tide.

Gleason would pick up his third TD of the contest with 2:46 to go in the third frame on a nine yard run as Keck then ran in the two point conversion, his fourth of the game. at 38-0, the mercy rule was put in to effect.

The final score was on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Falcon lineman Brandon Goss with just 1:40 to play. Coudersport then failed on the two point conversion attempt setting the final score at 44-0.

Curwensville had won six straight against the Falcons with Coudersport’s last win coming in the 2011 District 9 “A”
Quarter-finals, 28-27.

The Tide, now 1-5 on the year, are back on the road for its next contest, this coming Thursday at Redbank Valley with kick-off at 7 pm. Last year Curwensville defeated the Bulldogs 37-21.

The Bulldogs remained unbeaten Friday night at 6-0 with a convincing 21-0 victory over previously undefeated Smethport.
