Rockton Man Accused of Inappropriately Touching 3-Year-Old Girl

DUBOIS – A Rockton man is facing charges for allegedly touching a 3-year-old girl inappropriately.

Richard Alan McCracken, 62, was charged May 9 by state police in DuBois with three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault for his alleged actions between Feb. 1 and March 21 at a Rockton residence.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the child’s mother contacted child line to report her daughter had soreness in her private area as well as redness that was noted during a doctor’s appointment.

The girl reportedly said she was touched “down there” by McCracken.

The nurse practitioner who examined her signed a document stating that she believed the child had suffered sexual abuse.

When McCracken was interviewed by investigators, he admitted to touching her private area on at least three occasions, police said.

McCracken was also subjected to a polygraph test. After he returned home, his wife told officers he admitted to her he had touched the victim.

He then grabbed a gun, saying he was going to shoot himself because he didn’t know what to do, according to the report.

Later he was taken to Penn Highlands DuBois.

A preliminary hearing for McCracken is scheduled for Friday at District Judge Patrick Ford’s office.

McCracken is incarcerated in the county jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
