CURWENSVILLE – The West Branch Lady Warriors softball team made quick work of the Curwensville girls on Thursday afternoon, winning 10-0 in a game that ended due to the 10-run mercy rule after five innings.
The Lady Warriors were recipients of the Lady Tide committing a total of nine errors on the day that led to Curwensville giving up eight unearned runs.
West Branch started its offense in the second inning, picking up two runs, then tallied another five in the top of the third to take a commanding 7-0 margin after three frames.
The Warriors added two more in the fourth and one more in the fifth that enabled them to get the mercy rule victory.
Warrior winning pitcher Emma Miller limited the Lady Tide to five hits.
Curwensville shortstop Abby Pentz had a triple, while second baseman Lauren Tozer had a double.
It was the second time this season that the Lady Tide have been held scoreless.
The Lady Warriors had four players with two hits each in Elishea Reed, Ruthie Betts, Sarah Betts and Morgan Glace.
Glace had the biggest day of all hitters with two doubles.
The Lady Tide (12-6) play at home on Monday against Harmony with a 4:15 pm start time and end their regular season on the road next Wednesday at Johnsonburg.
