GAME 2
North Star’s bats came alive in game two against the Lady Tide, but even so that wasn’t enough as Curwensville prevailed in a much more competitive contest 9-5.
The Lady Tide jumped out to a two nothing lead after one inning, thanks to a triple by Freyer and a single by Tozer.
North Star did manage to knot the score at 2-2 with two tallies in the top half of the second inning but the Curwensville girls left no doubt about picking up the double header sweep by scoring six times in the bottom half of the second to go out in front after two, 8-2.
The big hits for the Lady Tide in the second were a triple by Pentz and doubles from Luzier, Logan Sheeder and Guthrie.
North Star did manage to cut the Tide lead to 8-4 with a two run fifth inning and then to 8-5 with a run in the sixth but the Lady Tide added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to set the final at 9-5.
Curwensville picked up three hits from Pentz and two each from Luzier and Sheeder.
Pentz and Bloom also had doubles for the Lady Tide.
For North Star, Hana Vish and Grace Gardner each had two hits with Gardner, Davia Tremain, Maria Barnick and Grace Tressler smacking doubles.
