Lady Tide Return To Diamond With 15-0 Victory Over Brockway

CURWENSVILLE – Freshman hurler Joslynne Freyer tossed a four inning, one hit shutout at home Thursday afternoon against the Brockway Lady Rovers 15-0.

Due to the inclement weather the last week, it was the Lady Tide’s first game since last Thursday and the layoff did nothing to hurt the Curwensville bats.

And Lady Tide head coach Allen Leigey feared just that, saying afterwards, “My biggest fear going into today’s game was the week layoff and how we would respond and actually play. I wasn’t sure if we would come out flat and give the advantage to Brockway. But in the end we did real well this afternoon.”

The Lady Tide smacked out 14 hits against the Rovers while scoring in every inning to gain the victory.

After Curwensville picked up two runs in the bottom of the first they really exploded in the second inning with seven more runs to leave no question as to who was in control.

The Tide banged out six base hits in the bottom of the second that included two doubles and one triple.

Abby Pentz had four hits, which included a double and a triple, on the day to lead the Lady Tide.

Freyer helped her own cause with three hits, one being a double.

Catcher Bailey Bloom picked up two hits, one a double, for Curwensville.

Brockway helped the Lady Tide offense by giving them a total of nine walks on the afternoon.

As of the 14 hits Curwensville had, Leigey commented, “We are really hitting the ball well at this point of the season. And that’s up and down our entire lineup as we continue to get production from everyone. And that’s a good thing.”

The lone base hit for the Lady Rovers was a single in the top half of the third inning by first baseman Emma Cavalline.

Curwensville also defeated the Lady Rovers in Brockway in late March 12-1.

The Lady Tide are now 7-2 on the year and host North Star on Saturday in a doubleheader with the first game set for 11 am and the second at 1 pm.
