FLINTON — Olivia Reese belted a grand slam home run with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Glendale, which had never led, a dramatic 6-2 win over visiting Clearfield in schoolgirl softball action Monday.
The sophomore second baseman delivered her walk-off blow after Hanna Noel singled and, after one out, Breanna Vereshack and Lexi Mulhollen walked to load the bases.
Twice in the earlier innings, Clearfield (5-5) held short-lived leads.
Karly Rumsky started the non-league makeup game with a single, moved to second on a groundout and scored on the first of two hits by Olivia Bender.
Glendale (10-2) got even in the third when Reese singled home Vereshack, who had reached base on an error.
Both teams scored in the fifth inning.
Morgan Cheek registered the Lady Bison RBI with a sacrifice fly after walks to Alexis Bumbarger, Kylee Hertlein singled and Rumsky was hit by a pitcn.
The Lady Vikings tied it up again on Mulhollen’s two-out hit that drove in Madison Lukehart, who had singled and advanced into scoring position on a groundout.
Mulhollen was the winning pitcher, finishing with a six-hitter while striking out two, walking two and hitting one Lady Bison.
Lady Bison hurler Emma Hipps was stingy, too, in her complete-game effort that was highlighted by 13 strikeouts. She allowed seven hits and three walks and hit one batter.
Casey English had a pair of hits for the Lady Bison, who go back on the road Tuesday for a Mountain League game at Huntingdon.
