Lady Tide Cruise Past Kane 15-0

CURWENSVILLE – Three fives did the trick for the Curwensville girls softball team in a home game Wednesday afternoon, defeating the visiting Kane Lady Wolves 15-0 in a game that was called in the bottom of the third inning due to the mercy rule.

The three fives came about as the Lady Tide scored five runs in each of the three innings played to win its second straight contest.

Lady Tide head coach Allen Leigey said afterwards, “We hit the ball pretty well today as our bats are starting to come alive. I like the fact that as a team we are starting to come together. I can tell we are starting to jell because we are rebounding better this year when things start to go bad.”

Curwensville picked up three hits each from sophomore Logan Sheeder, along with Alyssa Bakaysa, Joslynne Freyer and Taylor Luzier, all freshmen.

The Lady Tide also smacked nine extra base hits – seven doubles and two triples.

Bailey Bloom and Freyer had the triples for Curwensville while Bakaysa, Freyer (2), Luzier (2), Abby Pentz and Sheeder had the doubles.

It was a big day for Freyer, who also knocked in four runs and picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Tide.

Also with multiple RBI’s for the Tide were Luzier (3), Bloom (2) and Ally Hess (2).

Next up for the Lady Tide (3-2) is a trip to Flinton on Friday to play the Glendale Lady Vikings with a 4:30 pm start.
