ST. MARYS – The Curwensville girls softball squad traveled to St. Marys Monday afternoon to play the Lady Crusaders of Elk County Catholic (ECC). In the end it was a trip well worth the effort as the Lady Tide dumped ECC 12-5 to even its record to 2-2.
Curwensville had big stats on the day with 15 hits, seven extra base hits (six doubles and one triple) while running wild on the bases, picking up an amazing 13 stolen bases.
Elk County Catholic also had a big day stealing bases with eight, making a total of 21 between both teams.
The Lady Tide scored in all seven innings, with the biggest frame being the second, crossing home plate five times.
Abby Pentz and Joslynne Freyer each had three hits for Curwensville that included two doubles for each of them.
Two other Lady Tide had two hits each in Bailey Bloom and Alex Zattoni with each also smacking a double.
The one triple Curwensville picked up was delivered by Taylor Luzier.
Elk County Catholic picked up two hits from VanAlstine, Nero and Fledderman.
The Lady Tide are back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they entertain the Lady Wolves of Kane with a 4:15 pm start time.
