Ryan, Weber, Bakaysa To Play in D-9 All-Star Games

CLARION — Alayna Ryan of Clearfield and Madi Weber and Christian Bakaysa of Curwensville will be among the 40 District 9 high school seniors competing in the 19th annual Clarion County YMCA Sportsmanship 1 All-Star Games on the Keystone High School hardwood at Knox Saturday.

The girls game will tip off at 1 p.m. with the boys game to follow at 3. Both will have 40 minutes of action.

Four-season opponents Ryan and Weber will be playing together on Team White coached by Dave Sherman of Allegheny-Clarion Valley and Rodger Walter of Clarion.

They’ll be joined by Chelsea DeSalve of DuBois, Wendy Beveridge of Clarion, Cami McNany and Maddy Craig of Clarion-Limestone, Olivia Books and Kylee Eaton of A-C Valley, Malliah Schreck of Cranberry and Abbi Anderson of Northern Potter.

Mike King of Johnsonburg and Dave Kiehl will coach Team Blue that will showcase Kate Horner of Punxsutawney, Gabby Carli of North Clarion, McKenzie Hovis of Keystone, Cassidy King and Lindsey Kocjancic of Johnsonburg, Sady VanAlstine of Elk County Catholic, Alvia McKimm of Cameron County, Hannah Buhl and Ella Marconi of Kane and Shae Black of Coudersport.

In the boys game, Bakaysa will be on Team White with Jonathan Cruz of DuBois, Zane Puhala of Brockway, Jake Reynolds, Daunte Allegretto and Will Thompson of Ridgway, Isaac Schloder of Johnsonburg, Blake Burgett and Dempsey Glover of Austin and Ian Callen of Clarion-Limestone.

Tony Allegretto of Ridgway and Joe Ferguson of Clarion-Limestone are the coaches.

Andy Bish of North Clarion and Emmanuel Marshall of Redbank Valley will be in charge of Team Blue with a roster of Ethan Blose of Punxsutawney, Nick Smith and Keaton Kahle of Redbank Valley, Korey Mills, Tyler McCord-Wolbert and Kyle Mills of North Clarion, Austin Fahlor Karns City, Ben Gillispie of Venango Catholic and Alec Wehler and Alex Breindel of Elk County Catholic.

Prior commitments prevented Justin Miknis of DuBois Central Catholic, Jake Walters and Marcus Brown of Cameron County and Owen Chambers of Coudersport from participating.

Also on tap are 32-shooting contests in which each player must take five three-point shots, five pull-up jumpers and five layups before going to the foul line for a one-and-one situation, all in two minutes.
