Sandy Supers to Consider Noise Ordinance

DUBOIS – On Monday night, the Sandy Township Supervisors voted to have the township further investigate implementing its own noise ordinance.

According to the supervisors, it’s in response to some local establishments, which also serve alcohol, having noise complaints filed through the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.

Local business owners contend that the PLCB too often assumes a complaint is accurate. They also believe that the PLCB’s noise limits are too strict.

DuBois Councilman Ed Walsh, who is also an employee of the Sandy Hose Co. No. 1, suggested the supervisors follow the city and adopt its own noise ordinance.

Once approved and implemented, the township’s ordinance would replace the PLCB’s enforcement of noise on local establishments with liquor licenses.

The supervisors then voted to further investigate taking this route.
