AMESVILLE — Curwensville Area High School’s Madi Weber got the best of Moshannon Valley’s Emma Kitko, 33-29, in a duel of senior 1,000-point scorers, but two of the Damsel standout’s teammates also reached double figures as the hosts triumphed 73-51 Thursday night.
Chloe Blake and Alexis Knepp chimed in with 16 and 13 points, respectively, for the 14-7 Damsels, who capped a perfect 8-0 run through the Moshannon Valley League.
The Lady Tide finished 2-6 in the MVL and will take a 5-16 record into their final game Friday, when Clearfield visits Patton Hall for a 6 p.m. tipoff that precedes a boys makeup between the Golden Tide and Harmony.
Mo Valley led 21-12 after one quarter with Kitko equaling Curwensville’s output, but Weber heated up in the second period with 12 points of her own to help the visitors close to within 39-33 by halftime.
Weber registered 10 more points in the third period, but the Damsels used a 16-12 margin for a 10-point lead heading into the final eight minutes and then continued to pull away.
The junior varsity game went right down to the buzzer with Moshannon Valley eking out a 36-34 win. Alyssa Bakaysa scored 16 points for Curwensville.
