MEN’S SWIMMING
ERIE — Freshman Chase Bietz (Clearfield) won three individual events and helped three relay teams earn victories as once-beaten Penn State Behrend went on the road and padded its win total to seven at the expense of Malone (Ohio) 133-71 Friday night and St. Vincent 140-122 Saturday.
Against Malone at Canton, Bietz was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 59.21-second effort, registered a 58.48 breaststroke split for the Lions’ 400 medley that won in 3:36.42 and a 48.70 third leg for the 400 free quartet that triumphed in 3:18.09.
He swept the breaststroke races against Latrobe with clockings of 59.85 in the 100 and 2:12.44 in the 200 and anchored the 200 free team that won in 1:28.39.
In addition, he was second in the 200 individual medley in 1:59.43.
Bietz has piled up 14 wins in individual events and been on 12 victorious relay teams.

NEW WILMINGTON — Senior Michael Spencer (Clearfield) anchored winning relay teams with near identical splits and touched second in 50-yard freestyle sprints in both of Westminster’s road dual meets last week.
His 21.71-second closing leg gave the Titan 200 free foursome a 1:28.98 time at Grove City Thursday, when he also placed in the 50 free (22.36), 100 free (sixth, 51.09) and 100 backstroke (1:01.40).
Against Mount Union (Ohio) Saturday, Spencer stopped the clock at 1:38.13 for the 200 medley quartet with a 21.72 split and posted a 49.46 third leg for the 400 free foursome that was second in 3:16.29. His time for the 50 free was 22.44.
The Titans (5-2) lost both meets, 187-109 to Presidents’ Athletic Conference rival Grove City and 176-116 to Mount Union.

INDIANA — Sophomores Tate Swanson (Clearfield) and Hayden Steiner (Clearfield) were point-getters for Clarion at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Invitational Saturday.
Swanson placed seventh in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.19 seconds and 15th in the 50 free in 23.32 as well as swimming a 50.99 third leg for the Golden Eagle ‘A’ 400 free relay foursome that finished third in 3:16.73.
Steiner was ninth in the 200 individual medley in 2:13.62 and 13th in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.24, posted a 51.27 second split for the ‘B’ 400 free quartet that wound up sixth in 3:28.03 and a 23.73 leadoff leg for the 200 free foursome that placed sixth in 1:23.49.
Steiner swam a 26.37 fly leg and Swanson a 23.24 anchor for the ‘B’ 200 medley team that was eighth in 1:49.32.
The Golden Eagles were third with 480 points.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
INDIANA — Sisters Claire and Paige Mikesell (Clearfield) were on two winning Indiana University of Pennsylvania relay teams at the Pidgeon Memorial Invitational hosted by the Crimson Hawks Friday and Saturday.
Claire Mikesell swam a 1:05.29 breaststroke leg and Paige Mikesell a 57.44 butterfly split for the 400-yard medley foursome that recorded a 3:55.86 time.
They took care of the first two legs, with respective times of 25.22 and 24.55, for the 200 freestyle quartet that was victorious in 1:38.56.
In addition, the twosome swam for the ‘B’ medley relay team that placed third in 1:54.91, Claire with a 30.40 breaststroke leg and Paige with a 25.08 anchor.
Paige Mikesell also won the 100 fly in 2:08.62, while Claire Mikesell was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.29.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
GREENSBURG — Junior Cody Spaid (Clearfield) registered his second double-double of the season and also was credited with a career-high seven assists in Pitt-Greensburg’s 93-80 Allegheny Mountain Athletic Conference win over Penn State Altoona last Wednesday.
Spaid had a game-high 10 rebounds to go with 10 points. He also had one steal.
In Saturday’s 94-73 loss to Medaille at Buffalo, N.Y., Spaid led the Bobcats (7-13, 4-11 AMCC) with eight rebounds and four assists. He also scored five points.
The 6-7 center/forward is the team’s top rebounder (138) and shot blocker (20) as well as leading in assists (71).
His other stats show 154 points (7.3 ppg) and 17 steals.

WRESTLING
SCRANTON — Lycoming junior Travis Ogden (Clearfield) lost for the first time since early November in a duel of 197-pounders on the honorable mention list of the latest d3wrestle.com rankings that was a featured match in the Warriors’ 25-14 win over Scranton Sunday.
The host team’s Dan D’Agostini (30-2) prevailed in a 4-3 squeaker to end a 16-bout winning streak by Ogden (17-2).
Lycoming is 13-4.

MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
YOUNGSTOWN — Slippery Rock sophomore Ethan McGinnis (Clearfield) finished 11th among the 15 athletes from six teams that competed in the heptathlon at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational last weekend.
McGinnis, competing in the event for the first time, totaled 3,455 points.
He placed third in the high jump by clearing 1.84 meters (6 feet, ½ inch), fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.19 meters (20 feet, 3¾ inches), seventh in both the 60-meter dash in 7.48 seconds and 1,000-meter run in 3:04.36, 11th in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.45 and 15th in the shot put with a toss of 7.99 meters (26 feet, 2¾ inches).
He did not score in the pole vault.
