NEW BETHLEHEM – The first time out for the Curwensville Area High School wrestling team for the 2018-19 season ended in a road defeat, 48-16, at the hands of Redbank Valley on the Bulldogs’ home mat.
The Golden Tide picked up a win from senior Blake Passarelli who defeated Ethan Wiant 9-4 at 132 to give the Tide its first team points of the year.
Cole Bressler, another Curwensville senior, at 160 pounds, won a 12-4 major decision over Bulldog Noah Anderson, while Tide junior Jake McCracken, at 172, knocked off Colton Bartley of Redbank Valley 8-2.
The other team points for Curwensville came at 106 pounds as Jacob Carfley, a freshman, picked up a forfeit.
Redbank Valley received four forfeits on the night and picked up four falls. There were no matches at 126 and 285.
Curwensville (0-1) will wrestle next at the Ridgway duals this Saturday.
