RIDGWAY – The Ridgway Heritage Council is getting spooky with a special event this fall on Saturday, Oct. 13.

DUBOIS – The 12th annual DuBois Area Historical Society Spirit of DuBois Lantern Walk will explore a new area when it visits the East Side of the City of DuBois on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Gov. Wolf Calls for Passage of Public Health Emergency Legislation to Aid in Opioid Disaster Declaration

HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf on Monday signed the third renewal of his 90-day opioid disaster declaration amid a call to the General Assembly to pass Senate Bill 1001, which would establish a mechanism for a public health emergency.

Jackson Fills Vacant Seat on Clearfield School Board

CLEARFIELD – Mary Anne Jackson of Clearfield was appointed to fill the vacant seat on the Clearfield school board at the beginning of Monday night’s regular meeting.

Struble to Remain Top Leader of Clearfield Area School District

CLEARFIELD – Terry Struble will remain as the superintendent and the top leader of the Clearfield Area School District.

Historical Society Board Meets to Plan Festival and Annual Dinner

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Historical Society met Sept. 18 to discuss plans for the annual Apple Cider Festival, which is scheduled for Sunday, Oct., 14, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., at the historic Bloody Knox Cabin in Kellytown.

Bradford Twp.’s Election Redistricting Petition Tops Clearfield Commissioners’ Meeting

CLEARFIELD – Bradford Township’s election redistricting petition topped discussions at Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Clearfield County Commissioners.

Throwback Thursday: Gazzam Mercantile Store

Gazzam was a small mining community adjacent to Ansonville in Jordan Township.  It was named for Joseph Gazzam of Philadelphia, who was a corporate officer of the Clearfield Bituminous Coal Company.

Suspected Meth Traffickers Appear for Preliminary Hearings

CLEARFIELD – Three people accused of being involved with trafficking methamphetamine and other drugs in Pennsylvania and Ohio were scheduled to appear for their preliminary hearings Wednesday.
