DuBois City Changes Trick-or-Treat Night to Oct. 27

DUBOIS – On Monday night, DuBois City Council voted to change the date of Trick-or-Treat night.

Trick-or-Treating was originally scheduled for Halloween. However, it was changed to Saturday, Oct. 27.

According to council, concerns were raised that children wouldn’t have much time to have fun while trick-or-treating on a school day.

The Halloween parade was also re-scheduled and will be held prior to trick-or-treating.

Councilman Edward Walsh indicated that Sandy Township was also “on board” with the date change.

Over the years, both DuBois City and Sandy Township officials have made efforts to coordinate dates and times for such festivities.

Sandy Township’s trick-or-treat date change will not be official until voted upon by the supervisors.

Council also discussed recent water issues, including an odor. It was noted the odor was due to the city’s wells being turned on to compensate for the rain’s effects on the DuBois Reservoir.

However, council indicated the wells have been turned back off. Any discoloration is due to a recent 12-inch waterline break that would have shaken up sediment in the system’s pipes.  Since then, the break has been repaired, council said.
